Drunk idiots dressed in sombreros and what not, rooting for Melbourne, in Sydney for the NRL Grand Final, Brisbane Bulldogs vs Melbourne STorm. If I may be so frank, dear non-existent reader, 'What the Fuck?'.

'We're going for Melbourne!' One such drunkard says, brandishing a sign, 'Y'know, south of the border, eh!'

Yes, it's so obvious now...I'm waiting for the Brisbane supporters to start turing up in Canadian Mountie outfits next (Y'know, north of the border, eh!). Such is the insanity of Grand Final weekend.

The only thing better is Anzac Day, where hundreds of young Australians make a pilgrimage to Anzac Cove, in Turkey's Gallipoli Peninsula, to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers of WWI. All well and good, until the beer comes out...and Jimmy Barnes starts singing. Then we have hundreds of young Australians fucking each others brains out in the bushes, in Anzac Cove, in Turkey's Gallipoli Peninsula, to the tune of 'Working Class Man', or some such song. Patriotism at it's best. Lest we forget.

I'll start my first ever entry with an ending, a sad ending...for me anyway...In regards to the Australian Football League Grand Final.

Today, infront of a crowd of 90,000+ spectators (most of which, sadly, supported West Coast Eagles) the Sydney Swans, last years sentimental favourites and Premiers, lost, by a single point, in an almost repeat of the previous Grand Final, against bitter, cross-continental rivals, and last year's Minor Premiers, West Coast Eagles.

Strangely enough, I'm not as sad as I should be. Yes, I'm bitter and what not, but I was expecting them to lose anyway, or atleast, they had a good chance of losing, so the disapointment wasn't as bad. I cried last year when Sydney beat West Coast in a nail-biter of a game, by 4 points, the game saved by Leo Barry (God Bless his little cotton socks..) in the dying seconds of the match. Tears of joy and relief.

Mayhaps it's because the teams are so even, so well matched, that it was just a s likely to go either way, as it has so many times before. Oh well. Cheers to West Coast and their supporters, who travelled in the thousands from Western Australia to Melbourne, to see their team win. A better rival I have never seen, no other team I could have been happier to have Sydney beaten by.

Lastly, to Jason Akamanis, may God strike you down with leprosy, you arrogant bastard. I don't care if I spelt leprosy wrong, I don't know if I spelt leprosy wrong, my dislike for the man is clouding my typing abilities.

Best wishes to the Swans, Dockers and Bombers for next year. *raises glass* Cheers boys.

Note: If anyone ever ends up reading this, which doesn't seem likely, but oh well, I shall explain.
AFL, or Aussie Rules Football, is a game loosely based off Gaelic football and an Australian Aboriginal game. Every once in a while, an 'All Australia' Team is selected to play against Ireland in a game which is a combination of Aussie Rules and Gaelic Football, called 'International Rules'. Aussie Rules is Australia's national sport, despite what the NRL fans may say.

There are 16 teams in the national competition;
Sydney Swans (formerly South Melbourne aka the Bloods),
Adelaide Crows,
Fremantle Dockers (aka Freo),
Port Adelaide Power,
Essendon Bombers,
Carlton Blues,
St Kilda Saints,
Brisbane Lions (formerly Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy Lions, 2 seperate clubs),
West Coast Eagles (aka Weagles),
Western Bulldogs (formerly Footscray),
Collingwood Magpies,
Hawthorne Hawks,
Geelong Cats,
Richmond Tigers,
Melbourne Demons,
North Melbourne Kangaroos.

I'll just give a link to explain the rest, mainly because I'm lazy. This should help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Football_League.
Knock yourself out.
